Slightly veering away from the current Godflesh promo cycle, Justin K. Broadrick has revived his JK Flesh alter ego to deliver a new EP. Full of skittered electronics, requiem melodies and doomsday booms, it arrives as the pay-what-you-want collection Nothing Is Free.
The opening title track features an unsettling blanket of keyboards and hard-edged bass tones, while the devastating electro-assault "Hide & Seek" may just as well be titled "Duck & Cover." There's plenty of aural aggressiveness on display, with a mix of grinding sonics testing our sanity on "Boundless Submission," "They Own You" and more. All the same, it's disturbingly danceable.
You can sample the set at your own peril down below.
As previously reported, Broadrick's Godflesh start a tour with Prurient later this week. They'll have hit Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver by the end of the month. You can see the show schedule over here.
