The Jesus and Mary Chain Unveil Plans for Live Album

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 3, 2015

Scottish indie rock icons the Jesus and Mary Chain celebrated the 30th anniversary of their classic album Psychocandy earlier this year by taking it on tour, and then suggested that a new studio album may be in the works. Well, it might still be a while before we see any real new material, but fans can kill the waiting time by reliving the Psychocandy anniversary tour with a live release.

Following a Record Store Day edition in April, Live at the Barrowlands is due out as a wide release on July 31 via Demon and features the entire recording of the band's November show at the Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow. It will arrive as a deluxe 10-inch, LP and CD package, with a regular CD version slated to come out later in the year.

The LP features the concert in its entirety, while the 10-inch boasts a 7-song set of the album's singles and "fan favourites." The CD will include bonus features like behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and more. Finally, the deluxe package of Live at the Barrowlands comes encased in a 40-page hardcover book.
