Jay Som and Troye Sivan Make an Unexpected Duo on "Trouble"

The track appears in 'Three Months,' a new Sivan-starring coming-of-age film

Jay Som and Troye Sivan have teamed up for a pretty out-of-left-field collaboration with new single "Trouble," which appears in the trailer for Sivan's new coming-of-age movie Three Months

The track's straightforward pop melody is more in Sivan's wheelhouse than Jay Som's, but she comes in with her own verses — over some strange, crunchy drums — and manages to make it her own. It also seems likely that she's responsible for the shimmery guitar that runs under the whole thing.

Three Months centres Sivan's character Caleb, a Florida teenager who "loves his camera, his weed, and his grandmother," following him in the aftermath of an HIV exposure on the eve of his high school graduation. "While he waits three months for his results, Caleb finds love in the most unlikely of places," reads the movie's official description. The film hits Paramount+ on February 23.

Sivan released his In a Dream EP in 2020, and since then he's released the single "Angel Baby" and a reimagining of his song "Easy" that featured Kacey Musgraves. He'll also be appearing in the cast of the Weeknd's upcoming HBO show The Idol.

Jay Som released her latest album Anak Ko in 2019. She recently released Doomin' Sun, a collaborative record with Palehound's Ellen Kempner as Bachelor. She'll also be appearing on Luna Li's upcoming debut album Duality
