After learning about James Gandolfini's unexpected obsession with Green Day late last week, The Sopranos co-star Michael Imperioli has further elaborated on the late actor's Billie Joe Armstrong appreciation, revealing that Gandolfini even named his dog after the band's 1994 album, Dookie.

In conversation with Stereogum, Imperioli shared some more tidbits about his friend's fandom, including his love of Green Day's song, "Basket Case."

"Gandolfini would also sing 'Basket Case' and make up his own lyrics about HBO and the writers and producers of The Sopranos," Imperioli told the publication.

"Usually when he was feeling overworked and overexposed, and his lyrics would reflect that," he said. "Some of the more musical crew members would add a verse or two. Great fun."

Imperioli added: "He also named his dog Dookie and used it in his email address."

Sadly, Gandolfini's love of Green Day ended with his death in 2013 — though his memory lives on through Imperioli's rewatch podcast, Talking Sopranos

Gandolfini's last credited role was in 2014's The Drop as Cousin Marv.
