J Church

One Mississippi

BY Rob FerrazPublished Oct 1, 2000

For the better part of the last decade, San Francisco power pop trio J Church have released a wealth of material including countless singles and several albums. In all that time, they haven't slowed down or started sounding tired. If anything, this new record is a testament to that. At 26 songs, this showcases the band's abilities and growth. The content is introspective and the music matches it; understated moody pop tinged with melancholy. The personal has replaced the overt political that marked much of their early material and it all falls into place on this great record.
