Iron Reagan

Worse Than Dead

Municipal Waste released The Fatal Feast just last year, but if you listen to Iron Reagan's Worse Than Dead, you'd be forgiven for thinking they released a really quick follow-up. Therein lies Iron Reagan's main problem: they're basically indistinguishable from their singer and guitarist's main band. Iron Reagan are rounded out by ex-members of Darkest Hour, but their influence isn't nearly as prominent as the crossover thrash of Municipal Waste. Despite instances of extraneous influences — the powerviolence-esque "Slightly Out of Focus" and death metal-influenced "I Ripped That Testament A New Asshole" — the music isn't really worth its own album, let alone a new band. This isn't to say Iron Reagan are a bad group, they're just not a very necessary one. The music contained on Worse Than Dead is on par with Municipal Waste. However, when a new band splinter from a current one, you'd hope to see a fresh side of the members, not just a slightly different angle.
