The latest to be signed on Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder label is 18-year-old British producer Iglooghost, and his first EP for the label, Chinese Nü Yr, seems a perfect fit. Joining the likes of Lapalux, Tokimonsta and Lorn, Iglooghost puts forth a style entirely unique yet completely at home amongst his labelmates. In his own words, the EP "is a story about a gelatinous worm-shaped creature...He/she is really sad because his/her existence consists of infinitely being blasted through endless wormholes into different worlds that don't make any sense — full of floating fruit and pink mist."

It sounds ridiculous, but it kind of sums up the sounds captured on Chinese Nü Yr: chaotic, sporadic and slightly discordant. It has an intense momentum while still seeming to drift leisurely, showcasing the obvious influence of grime and 2-step across the album. Iglooghost has a knack for texture and detail, for working with nuance and subtleties, for building elaborately layered soundscapes that defy his age, all on full display here.
