Iggy and the Stooges Complete 'Ready to Die' Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 26, 2013

Since releasing their 2007 album The Weirdness, Iggy and the Stooges have focused most of their energy on live performances, including an All Tomorrow's Parties Raw Power performance that got released on vinyl in 2011. Now, however, they're set to return with new material.

According to Hitfix, the album has already wrapped on its recording stage. The release is called Ready to Die.

Album engineer Ed Cherney called the album "old-time Stooges," saying, "It's raw. They're great songs, but not necessarily big choruses. They're the anti-christ of anthems."

Cherney added that Iggy Pop's lyrics are "very timely," saying, "He knows what he wants to say.  He's watching the world around him."

Ready to Die does not have a release date or a tracklisting just yet. We do know, however, that songs called "I Got a Job But It Don't Pay Shit" and "Gun" will appear on the release.
