HotKid

"Neck"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 6, 2016

HotKid have been laying relatively low since dropping a video for "Here4U" last spring, but in the wake of Jian Ghomeshi's trial, the Toronto-based band have recorded a new track.

The song is titled "Neck," and it's a response to the recent court ruling that found the former CBC host innocent on sexual assault charges. Inspired by the verdict, as well as the public reaction to the controversial decision, the song is a narrative account of the cases presented by Ghomeshi's accusers and the collective public ignorance to the long whispered-about behaviour.

The graphic stories are set to electrically-charged garage rock sounds, and you can hear it for yourself in the player below. The track is also available for free download via HotKid's Bandcamp page.
