The re-release of this EP shows how well its songs have aged in the six years since it was originally unveiled. Throughout Laika, Hot Little Rocket do an excellent job of melding resonating melodies with complex instrumentation and arrangements. The group effectively bridge tunefulness and dissonance. For fans only familiar with the group’s later material, this EP provides a glimpse of how skilful the members of Hot Little Rocket were from the outset of their career.
