Last week, rapper/producer Holt announced his signing to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music and promised that "my music is FINALLY coming." Clearly he isn't beating around the bush, since he just rolled out a cover Kavinsky's "Nightcall."
This song is notable for having appeared on the Drive soundtrack, and the name of the movie is even included in the shadowy, car-themed music video. The arrangement here is significantly more organic than on the original, as the robo-vocals are replaced by organic singing (which isn't always in tune) and the disco pulse is transformed into a hip-hop swagger. The guest vocals come courtesy of Glass Lux's Emily Morse, while production was handled by Mano.
Check out Holt's self-directed clip below (which was co-directed by Chelsea Lombardo). According to a press release, this track won't be on Holt's new album, which is due soon and won't feature any rapping.
