High on Fire Cancel Tour over Medical Emergency Leading to Partial Toe Amputation

Frontman Matt Pike's medical situation has forced to band to drop off their tour with Municipal Waste

Days before they were set to hit the road with Municipal Waste on the co-headlining "Speed of the Wizard Tour," High on Fire have announced they will no longer make the trip due to a medical emergency involving frontman Matt Pike.

In a statement, the band revealed that Pike's medical emergency is "culminating in the partial amputation of one of his toes," adding that "the scheduling of this procedure is immediate and the recovery time will overlap our intended tour."

The tour, which also includes Toxic Holocaust and Haunt, will continue as scheduled without High on Fire, who vowed to return "stronger than ever" in 2019. You can find a complete itinerary below.

"First and foremost we wish our friend Matt the best of luck with his recovery," Municipal Waste wrote in a statement. "We need him, the metal world in general needs him. We would much rather have him miss a tour to heal up rather than not having any more Matt Pike music in the future."

High on Fire delivered their Electric Messiah LP earlier this month.
