Early this month, a bunch of billboard began teasing something new from Aphex Twin. Now we know what all that expensive signage was pointing towards.

As suspected, the campaign was a teaser for some new Aphex Twin gear made in collaboration with Novation. Today the music equipment company revealed the AFX Station synth — a new version of its popular Bass Station II.

The synth comes with Aphex Twin's previous collaboration with Novation, "AFX Mode," pre-installed, with the company calling the synth "our modern classic monosynth, remixed by Aphex Twin."

Novation added the following of the AFX Station:

Designed in collaboration with electronic music legend Richard D James aka Aphex Twin, AFX Station is a limited edition release of Bass Station II. A sound designer's dream, AFX Station has the same powerful feature set as Bass Station II, with the addition of AFX Mode pre-installed, which revolutionises the way the monosynth can be played and programmed.

Aphex Twin's last proper release came back in 2018 with the Collapse EP.
