Here Are the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards Winners

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 29, 2016

It's that time of year again. The time when music's most popular don tacky outfits, parade down a white carpet and sit through painful hours of performances and Moonman trophies getting handed out. It's the MTV Video Music Awards!

The show that has delivered iconic moments like the Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera three-way that nobody asked for in 2003 and Kanye West's classic mic-steal from Taylor Swift in 2009 returned tonight (August 28), broadcasting live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. There's still plenty of time for drama to unfold, but for now, catch up on the highlights by browsing the list of winners from this year's VMAs below.

Heading into the show, Beyoncé led the pack with 11 nominations, while Adele came in second with eight. In addition to the categories listed below, Rihanna was the 2016 recipient of the annual Video Vanguard Award.

Without further ado, here is the full list of 2016 MTV Video Music Award nominees. Winners will be updated in bold throughout the evening.
