While more than a few artists have paid tribute to Silver Jews leader David Berman, Scottish indie-pop heroes the Pastels have also now honoured the late artist. For an upcoming 7-inch, Stephen Pastel and co. have shared a cover of Silver Jews' "Advice to the Graduate," and you can hear it now.

The cover will appear on a new Record Store Day single, which will arrive on August 29. While the A-side features a 1997 Peel session, the flip contains the Silver Jews cover.

In a statement, Stephen Pastel explained:

It seemed poignant then, now almost unbearably so. Katrina and I had been asked to perform it at a Drag City showcase in New York a couple of years earlier with the Drag City All Stars. It's such a perfect, simple song and it made sense to us partly because of Laurence who had introduced us and made it feel like we were all in a Domino family. Still feel that.

You can hear the cover down below, where you'll also find the original Silver Jews version. "Advice to the Graduate" appeared on Silver Jews' 1994 album Starlite Walker.
