Stone Temple Pilots are set to give their sophomore album Purple a huge 25th anniversary reissue this month, and ahead of time, they've shared a rare Beach Boys cover set to be included in the package.

The deluxe set features STP covering the Beach Boys' 1964 song "She Knows Me Too Well." Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, the song was the B-side to "When I Grow Up (To Be a Man)" before appearing on the band's 1965 album The Beach Boys Today!

As bassist Robert DeLeo told Rolling Stone, their cover version was recorded "at one of [producer] Brendan O'Brien's friends' houses" alongside Purple cut "Pretty Penny."

"Being the youngest in our family, I would listen to the 45s that were always hanging out by the record player, and the Beach Boys 45s were the first ones I listened to," he continued. "There are certain obscure Beach Boys songs that have always been some of my favorites, including 'She Knows Me Too Well.' When I first played that one for Scott [Weiland], he really fell in love with it, so I suggested that we cover it."

The 3-CD, single-LP "Super Deluxe Edition" of Purple arrives October 18 through Rhino.
