After working on a pair of songs together on Hamilton Leithauser's 2014 solo debut, Black Hours, he and former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij have formally announced a collaborative project. As Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam, they've just unveiled debut tune, "A 1000 Times."
The song begins with a bit of late night parlor piano and Leithauser's familiar call. It soon finds him shooting into his fabulously scratchy, higher register one, with a full band kicking in and the singer reporting on red-eyed nights in November and falling out of touch with people ("If I had your number, I'd call you tomorrow").
It both has the bop and soul of a classic Walkmen cut, with the honked harmonica lending a touch of Springsteen to the piece.
Leithauser and Batmanglij apparently have an entire full-length in the can, though it's as yet unclear when it'll see release. In the meantime, you can sample "A 1000 Times" as many times as you want via the player down below.
