Gustavo Santaolalla's 'Last of Us' Score Finally Gets Vinyl Release

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 20, 2015

It's been a while since Mondo announced plans to issue a vinyl version of Gustavo Santaolalla's score to videogame The Last of Us, but the label has finally confirmed the release arrives this week.

Mondo has revealed that an epic four-LP set drops on Wednesday (July 22). The collection will be housed in a "heavy duty" slipcase, with the packaging featuring exclusive artwork from Olly Moss and Jay Shaw. As you'll see up above, this includes newly revealed artwork, as well as work that had previously appeared on a previously sold poster.

Spread out across four pieces of 180-gram black vinyl will be each and every cue from the 2013 action-survival videogame, as well as the music from its 2014 DLC companion piece, Left Behind. While the score to the post-apocalyptic game had been delivered on CD in 2013, via Digitaland, this marks the first time The Last of Us has appeared on vinyl.

Mondo is teasing the score, as well as other distributed titles, in a new streaming mix. Their "Monthly Mix Volume One" features Santaolalla's cinematic The Last of Us track "The Path," as well as cues from James Horner's Aliens, The The's Hyena, I Am 8 Bit's Battletoads release and more. You'll find the stream down below.
