Guided by Voices Cancel December Residency After Robert Pollard Fractures Kneecap

They'll no longer be ringing in the New Year in Illinois

Go ahead and wish a speedy recovery to Guided by Voices frontman Robert Pollard, who recently fractured his kneecap, forcing the band to pull out of their end-of-December residency in Evanston, IL.

GBV were set to play four shows next week at Evanston's SPACE venue, culminating in a sold-out New Year's Eve show. However, the band took to Twitter yesterday to announce that the shows have been cancelled, writing that, "refunds will be processed automatically for all Eventbrite ticket orders immediately. Please allow 7-14 business days for credit card refunds to post back to your account. No other steps need to be taken."

Alongside the unfortunate announcement, the band shared an X-ray of Pollard's busted kneecap, saying simply, "Bob has fractured a knee. Let's wish him a speedy recovery."

Jumping around to GBV seems like a pretty ideal way to ring in the new year, so condolences to those now looking for new plans.
