The musician born Claire Boucher filed a "petition to establish parental relationship" on Friday (September 29), having posted "tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer" on the platform once known as Twitter a few weeks ago.
The pair's secret third child together, Techno Mechanicus (a.k.a. Tau), was only made public knowledge last month via the publication of Walter Isaacson's new Musk biography, Elon Musk. Their firstborn, X Æ A-XII (nicknamed X), arrived in 2020, followed by Exa Dark Sideræl Musk (Y) — who was likewise kept a secret for several months after her birth — in 2022.
Grimes and Musk went public with their relationship in 2018. They were "semi-separated" by 2021, but have obviously continued to have children together. Having never been married, a judge would hypothetically be likely to award the couple joint custody over Techno Mechanicus unless one of them was proven to be an unfit parent.
The Tesla bajillionaire also had twins with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis in 2021. According to Isaacson, he had offered to be her sperm donor without telling Grimes. Musk also apparently gatecrashed the musician's Cyberpunk 2077 recording session with a gun and insisted on making a cameo, as per the biographer.
