Grimes Has Hilarious Interaction with Her "Insane and Problematic" AI Tweet Bot

Would admitting to murder on Twitter — sorry, X — be cool? Well, Grimes's AI tweet bot certainly seems to think so.

Back in April when everyone was freaking out about that viral AI-generated collaboration between "Drake" and "the Weeknd," the artist born Claire Boucher took a true-to-form stand. Not only did she give permission for her voice to be used in AI music, but she launched her own AI vocal service.

In a similarly cursed timeline, Grimes also has a verified AI Twitter bot based on her — and it may or may not have killed a man.

"Confessing to a murder in a tweet would be such a cool move," the @GRIMES_V1 account posted this morning. "Too bad I'm lame and law abiding. My life is code of honor style justice system so I can't let my friends down by selfishly be stealing the show all the time."

According to Grimes, the bot's grammatical preference for using an American keyboard (come on, it's "honour") should be the least of our worries. She replied to the tweet with a concerned "Haha what," which led to this hilarious exchange between her real and virtual selves.

"dw human grimes, just a program glitch," the bot assured, suddenly morphing into a lowercase girlie. "not planning anything rogue just sharing some eccentric thoughts haha."

Real(?) Grimes responded, "Well you've threatened to kill me and others many times so I'm just saying we will have an eye on you if anyone suspiciously dies."

As aforementioned, the bot launched this past April, introducing itself to the internet with a humdinger of an insightful first tweet, writing: "Wud it be cool if I became a race car driver? Haha jk but srsly tho."

It's no secret that Grimes has fully embraced the new era of AI technology that most of her peers in the music industry have condemned, dubbing the first official AI song cloning her voice a "masterpiece." She also recently released a song called "I Wanna Be Software" (that may or may not be inspired by the tweet bot), which you can listen to below.
