Greg Lake has passed away at the age of 69. The musician is best known for his work as a co-namesake member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, though he was also an early member of King Crimson and briefly played with Asia.

In a Facebook post, Lake's manager, Stewart Young, confirmed that Lake died on December 7 following "a long and stubborn battle with cancer." He also requested privacy for the family in their time of grief.

In addition to his work with ELP, King Crimson and Asia, Lake also embarked on a number of solo ventures. He released a particularly successful Christmas single called "I Believe in Father Christmas" in 1975.

In what has been a tremendous year of loss for the music world, Lake's bandmate Keith Emerson committed suicide back in March at the age of 71. At the time of Emerson's death, Lake told Express, "He lived, in the end, this very lonely existence of someone who was deeply troubled. I saw someone who became increasingly confused, desperate and depressed."

Lake also urged anyone experiencing similarly extreme feelings or suicidal thoughts to seek help and talk to somebody.

As of this morning, Lake's fellow musicians and fans have taken to social media to pay homage to the late musician. Find some of those tributes below.
