Grandaddy Reveal 'Last Place' LP, Share New Video

Last year, Grandaddy announced that they would be recording their first new album in a decade, then teased some new material on a two-song single last month. Now, the long-running California group have shed some more light on the forthcoming full-length. It's titled Last Place, and it will arrive on March 3 through Danger Mouse's 30th Century Records.

Full details about the LP have yet to be revealed, but the band have offered up a video for "Way We Won't." It was one of the previously released tunes and is expected to reappear on Last Place. The accompanying music video was directed by Chris Grieder, and it stars Jason Ritter as an out-of-luck hitchhiker.

"To be honest, I would have loved to have made a video based exactly on the lyrics of this song," frontman Jason Lytle told NPR Music. "But I really like Chris Grieder's treatment because the main character is an outsider who has taken to wandering and can't get accepted (picked up) by a varying array of characters. I felt it was important to place a girl in the cast of characters, someone who had some attachment to the loner guy and perhaps, just perhaps, was responsible for putting him on that lonely road. I have to say my absolute favorite part is the very end (you have to watch it)."

As previously reported, the upcoming record marks the follow-up to 2006's Just Like the Fambly Cat. The band went on hiatus after releasing the album, but reunited for live dates back in 2012.
