Published Oct 28, 2016Having read the books of Noodle, Russel and Murdoc, we know a new album from Gorillaz is on the way, but not before the fourth instalment of the story series has been delivered. The band have now shared The Book of 2D to go alongside their previous three releases.
Starting once more from the attack on Plastic Beach, the story reveals that vocalist 2D had hidden himself away in his underwater quarters. It wasn't much safer below the waves either: a great white whale known as Massive Dick (no relation to Moby) swallowed him in one bite and swam away into the depths.
The story then reveals that a lifetime of eating garbage in the ocean caused Massive's sudden death, washing 2D and the whale's carcass ashore on a desert island. With limited survival skills, 2D had no other option but to eat the body of the whale.
The story isn't all doom and gloom however, as 2D soon finds he isn't alone on the island after following a plane along the coast right into the middle of a beach rave. Deciding to "have a gap year and find himself," he was soon fired from his job as a friendship bracelet weaver and decided it was time to fly home.
Take in the entirety of The Book of 2D unfold in the photos and videos below.
As previously reported, the upcoming Gorillaz album is rumoured to feature collaborations with artists like Jean Michel-Jarre, Twilite Tone, Liam Bailey and Vic Mensa. Back in July, Damon Albarn confirmed that the LP would be arrive "fairly soon."
