Last month, Gorillaz dropped "Doncamatic (All Played Out)," a club-geared disco jam that floated UK singer Daley's smooth vocals atop a pumping synth-disco beat. Now, Bristol-based dubstepper Joker has taken away much of the glitz on his new remix of the tune but still manages to hypnotize with his textured treatment.
Though Joker has stripped away the brassy faux-horns of the original, he pumps up his variation of the cut with laser sounds, thick, filtered wobbles and soft rock synths. He may have dropped the tempo down to a slow clap, but a busy hi-hat still propels the track beyond a lethargic head bob. It's chilled-out, for sure, but the glacial pacing is anything but lazy.
