Good Strike M'Lady: You Can Buy Tom Waits's Signed Fedora to Support Striking Film Crew Members

The Union Solidarity Coalition is hosting an online auction to support members' access to healthcare during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes

There are only four months left, but 2023 could be the year that we officially make fedoras cool again. Of course, no ordinary fedora could do the trick — thank God then that Tom Waits and the Union Solidarity Coalition can provide just the dome-topper for the job.

The TUSC is hosting an online auction to support members' access to healthcare during the joint WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and included in the list of available items is a fedora signed by none other than Tom Waits, who's been on the frontlines of the Make-Fedoras-Cool war for decades now.

Other items and experiences up for grabs include the script for the Atlanta pilot autographed by Donald Glover, the Hawaiian shirt from Weird: The Al Yankovic Story signed by "Weird Al" Yankovic and Daniel Radcliffe, a personalized song by the cast of Bob's Burgers, a pottery class with Busy Phillips, a mural by Lena Dunham, lunch with Ann Dowd, dinner with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, and items from Party Girl and Dazed and Confused autographed by Parker Posey, among many other things. You can head to eBay to check out the auctions.

With productions across television and film coming to a halt due to the strikes, crew members' access to healthcare plans remains contingent on a minimum number of working days. "We founded TUSC because, as striking writers, we feel an incredible kinship with the crew (IATSE, LiUNA and Teamsters) that make our jobs possible — and right now they are hurting, especially when it comes to healthcare," TUSC co-founder and mural-painter Lena Dunham said in a statement.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the TUSC Fund of the Motion Picture and Television Fund.
