Goat Horn

Storming the Gates

BY Greg PrattPublished Nov 1, 2003

The homage paid to ’80s metal and, particularly, cult record label Banzai Records on the packaging for this album had me reeled in from the start. Obviously in for a beery laugh or two, Toronto's Goat Horn nonetheless manage to play perfectly adept old school metal while they're at it. Like Cranium meets Omen, if anyone can actually imagine that, these nine cuts will have you laughing, throwing your fists in the air, and maybe even shedding a tear for the old days of metal, when pure sounds like these were the norm. This album still will strike a chord in the heart of old-schoolers everywhere. Love that photo collage! Includes a cover of fellow Canuck thrashers Sacrifice (you know what song).
