British quartet Glass Animals have been purveyors of sticky-hooked vibes for around a decade now, but they had their big breakout moment with "Heat Waves" — the lead single from their 2020 album, Dreamland. (It was one of the most-streamed songs worldwide on Spotify in both 2021 and 2022.) The band have now announced their follow-up record, led by new single "Creatures in Heaven."

I Love You So F***ing Much comes out July 19 via Polydor Records. As one might imagine, it was inspired by the experience of reaching your peak notoriety as an artist amid a global pandemic and the experiential crisis of it all.

"Life can change dramatically, but sometimes you aren't able to change as quickly on a personal level," frontman Dave Bayley explained in a statement. "You end up feeling like a spectator. And then you are asked and expected to be a certain type of person, a different person. But… I wasn't sure how. It confused me to the point of not knowing who I was or if anything was real."

Of the album title, he added, "These words take on a different meaning every time you say them. The universe may make us feel overwhelmingly small, but we have this human connection that is far vaster and more mysterious. Love comes in an infinite number of forms and shapes and sizes. It is so complex, and so powerful that even witnessing the tiniest instance of it can change your life forever."

Lead single "Creatures in Heaven" is pretty standard Glass Animals fare, although they interestingly chose a guitar-driven chorus with punchy, distortion-drenched drums, as if it were a — admittedly sedated — pop-punk anthem. The rest of the song swims in underwater synths and Bayley's odd little turns of phrase that are occasionally quite endearing.
