"I must have had too much stuff because after these selections were sent to Christie's, my wife stepped into my office and said, 'Hey! I thought you were selling some of your collection?'"

A week from now, Rush's Geddy Lee is publishing his memoir, My Effin' Life. As such, he's turning the page on some stuff in his (effin') life — including the absolutely colossal collection of baseball memorabilia he's spent several decades amassing, which the musician is now auctioning off through New York-based auction house Christie's.

"It's been an education and privilege for the past 35 years to amass a wonderful and supremely mammoth collection of baseball memorabilia. Yet, I've decided it's time to move some of it on for other collectors to enjoy," Lee explained on Instagram. "What an effin' blast it's been, but I must have had too much stuff because after these selections were sent to Christie's, my wife stepped into my office and said, 'Hey! I thought you were selling some of your collection??' … Uh, yeah Honey, I am… Oopsie!"

Among the highlights from the collection, which goes to auction from November 21 to December 6, are a rare 1938 Babe Ruth Brooklyn Dodgers professional model road uniform, the Atlanta Braves jersey Hank Aaron wore to hit his 500th career home run in 1968, a ball autographed by all four members of the Beatles when they played Shea Stadium in 1965 and much, much more.

"It just became a magnificent obsession for me," Lee told The Athletic of his collection. "Baseballs, nobody owns them. They're like houses. You take care of them for a while, and then they move on to the next person, the next custodian."

Lee embarks on a North American book tour behind his memoir later this month before his new docuseries on fellow low-end frequency forebears — and whether or not they're human too — premieres on Paramount+ in December.
