Greg Smith plays bass in the Weakerthans, but he's currently gearing up to release an album with his side-project, G. Smith and the Bad Dreamers. The album is called the Dreamers, and it will include the tune "The Secret Life."
The Bad Dreamers also features J.J. Ipsen, Justin Nace and Aaron Curtis. They give "The Secret Life" a cheerful indie rock arrangement made up of burbling bass and bright harmonies. It unexpectedly turns into reggae at a couple of points in the song, and even includes some computerized vocal processing towards the end, making this a curious exercise is genre-hopping.
