Fucked Up's Long Winter Concert Series Brings Kid-Friendly Spinoff to Toronto

Fucked Up's profane band name means that they aren't exactly appropriate for the whole family, but the beloved hardcore crew have announced that their Long Winter concert series will include a day that's specially designed for little ones. Long Winter Kids will come to the Great Hall in Toronto on December 28.

Dubbed "a day of music, art, storytelling, performance, games and food for the 0-12 set," the fest will run from noon to 5 p.m., and admission will be pay-what-you-can. Proceeds will go to End Immigration Detention. Musical acts include Hooded Fang, the Woodshed Orchestra, Clara Venice and Lido Pimienta, plus teenage pop-punk act Unfinished Business and children's performers Ali Eisner and Space Chums.

As with other Long Winter events, this promises to be a mixed-media affair. Attractions include an aerial skills performance, magic, comedy, arts and crafts, dance, food, workshops, and a photo booth.

Interestingly, Young Guv (a.k.a. Fucked Up guitarist Ben Cook) will be running ThE RoCkBoX, which a press release dubs "an experimental mobile recording and sampling castle studio playhouse for kids." At the studio, kids and parents will be invited to make a racket while being recorded, and the sounds will be compiled to make Long Winter Kids Rockbox Mixtape #1.
