The Red Hot Chili Pepper took on some red hot cauliflower bites

A member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers appearing on the chicken wing webseries Hot Ones was a piece of spicy synergy that was always bound to happen — and now it's finally come to pass, as bassist Flea took on the fiery gauntlet for the latest episode of the show.

Across the 10 wings (which appeared to be cauliflower bites, although they were never identified), Flea discussed topics like his worst on-stage injuries and the time Keith Morris of Circle Jerks filled in as RHCP's singer by improvising nonsense lyrics for an entire show.

Host Sean Evans also asked Flea about his 2016 meeting with Koko, the gorilla who famously understood English and could communicate in sign language. "I can't say that Koko smelled so great. I would say that Koko was very sexual with me," Flea acknowledged. "Nipples. She was going for my nipple the whole time, and they were like, 'Koko!'"

It wasn't all bad, though. Flea went on to explain Koko's incredible language comprehension. He began their meeting by giving the gorilla compliments about her beauty, at which point she invited him into her enclosure and giving him a heart hand sign.

"She understood English really well, even though she couldn't speak it. Even though there was much she couldn't sign, she understood everything that was going to be said," Flea remembered. "I said to her carer, 'I've got a flight at 3:30, so I've got to get going soon.' Koko just went like that. [Pouts.] Like a little kid, like, 'I don't want you to go!' It was amazing. Everything that was being said, she understood."
