FKA twigs' Second Nike Ad Got Killed After Being Deemed Too Risque

Her Nike advertisement was axed despite costing the company "millions of dollars"

At the top of this year, FKA twigs debuted a new song as the creative director for NikeWomen's Spring Zonal Strength Tights campaign. Now, it's been revealed that the artist had done another commercial for the athletics giant — only to have it pulled for being too risque.

New York Times feature shedding light on #MeToo's effect on Nike headquarters notes that twigs had shot a second ad for the company in Mexico City, done ahead of launching a VaporMax shoe for women this fall.

The Times notes that the campaign was "killed," effectively "costing Nike millions of dollars." The publication notes that the end result "featured few shots of the shoes and instead had a woman twirling on what looked like a stripper pole and male athletes in sports bras striking odd poses."

Nike spokesman KeJuan Wilkins told the Times that the company is proud of its relationship with the vocalist.

"We have a history of pushing the boundaries in marketing, just as we do in product development," he said. "We create a lot of material that is not deployed in the marketplace.''
