The Field Invades North America

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Apr 14, 2008

Riding the continued success of 2007’s From Here We Go Sublime, Sweden’s the Field has announced a string of North American tour dates, two of which find him on Canadian soil.

To refresh your memory, From Here We Go Sublime garnered praise far and wide for its dance floor-orientated ambience, landing the album spots on countless 2007 best of lists (including the No. 3 position in Exclaim!’s Frequencies Year in Review). In its wake, the Field (aka Axel Willner) has left a trail of sonic teasers, such as this year’s iTunes/limited-edition physical release, Sound of Light EP, but has yet to drop a proper full-length follow-up.

And while that day may still be a long way off, fans will be able to see what new sounds the Field has cookin’ on these various live dates, which start April 25 in NY with Wu-Tang’s Ghostface and end May 31 at Montreal’s annual Mutek festival. If you are lucky enough to be in Montreal for Mutek (May 28-June 1) this year’s fest, the event also boasts such high-profile electronic-loving acts as Fennesz, Carl Craig, Tim Hecker and Modeselektor.
