Felix Da Housecat

Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco

The album opens up like you’re in a line-up outside a club. After you hear the vocal sample ("come on in!”), we’re inside hearing new music from this electro mastermind. Felix Da Housecat knows how to do what he does, and what he does is create synth-y electronic space grooves you can dance to under strobe lights. Twenty-first century new wave electro meets ’70s disco, Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco is imaginative and smooth in what Felix calls his "sexy black electronic disco album.” "This record has a black soulful groove,” he says, "It’s more like Sly & The Family Stone… I wanted to go Parliament, I wanted to go Prince, and at the same time I wanted to go like George Michael and Pet Shop Boys, only them being black.” Lead single "Something For Porno” brings back ’70s disco. Other tracks are modern electro with lyrics about everything from feeling free and finding yourself to a sampled conversation about how pretty girls don’t dance, they just pose to techno.
