Published Aug 26, 2015Father John Misty's recent LP, I Love You, Honeybear, featured gloriously lush chamber-folk instrumentation. For fans who were interested in hearing that material in more stripped-down form, the sardonic songwriter has performed an acoustic set for Seattle radio station KEXP.
The 47-minute performance at the cozy KEXP studio includes six songs, along with an interview portion. Songwriter Joshua Tillman explains that even his most lavishly produced tracks initially began as stripped-down acoustic numbers, and he gives a taste of what they sounded like with barebones renditions of "I Love You, Honeybear," "Chateau Lobby #4 (In C for Two Virgins)," "Holy Shit," "I'm Writing a Novel," "Bored in the USA" and "I Went to the Store One Day."
