Father John Misty

Live on KEXP (full video)

Father John Misty's recent LP, I Love You, Honeybear, featured gloriously lush chamber-folk instrumentation. For fans who were interested in hearing that material in more stripped-down form, the sardonic songwriter has performed an acoustic set for Seattle radio station KEXP.

The 47-minute performance at the cozy KEXP studio includes six songs, along with an interview portion. Songwriter Joshua Tillman explains that even his most lavishly produced tracks initially began as stripped-down acoustic numbers, and he gives a taste of what they sounded like with barebones renditions of "I Love You, Honeybear," "Chateau Lobby #4 (In C for Two Virgins)," "Holy Shit," "I'm Writing a Novel," "Bored in the USA" and "I Went to the Store One Day."

Watch the full clip. The interview segment is in the middle and is bookended by two short sets of music.
