Fakir Légo

En Mal de Bloc

BY Stuart GreenPublished Dec 1, 2000

I think the fact that I was completely captivated by this eclectic Francophone trio without having a clue what they were singing about most of the time is a testament to the strength of their debut disc. Firehose funk meets complex math rock and Pere Ubu minimalism on this 11-track collection. The lo-fi guitar shards juxtaposed with impossible rhythms and relentless bass lines are destined to leave music students wanting to write their masters on this band. As fun as it is insane and non-linear.
