Ed Sheeran has prefaced his latest LP ÷ with some new singles and a stint on Saturday Night Live, but he's just dropped some knowledge about another upcoming album.
Speaking to the BBC, Sheeran revealed that a Taylor Swift album could be on the way before the year's end.
He joked that his chart competition like Beyoncé, the Weeknd and Bruno Mars had just released albums in 2016, clearing a path for his own success, and revealed that Swift's next record wouldn't be arriving for a while yet.
"Taylor isn't going to be releasing until probably the end of this year," he said. "Christmas is the smartest time to release because that's when everyone buys records. So I've got a full year of just all Ed, all the time."
Swift, who has toured and collaborated with Sheeran in the past, broke her tradition of releasing an album every second autumn for the first time since her 2006 debut last fall. Her last album, 1989, arrived in October 2014.
After closing the chapter on 1989, Swift contributed Zayn collaboration "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" to the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack, and has been rumoured to have hit the studio with Drake to work on a "different" sound.
Regardless of not releasing a new album last year, Swift still managed to snag the title of 2016's highest paid artist.
While fans of Swift wait for firm details of the singer's next album, they can console themselves with Sheeran's ÷, which is due out on March 3 via Atlantic.
