Ed Sheeran Gets Bullied Off Twitter

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 4, 2017

Despite recent guest gigs on Saturday Night Live, Game of Thrones and as Taylor Swift's bestie, Ed Sheeran's popularity doesn't seem to have translated to Twitter.

The badly tattooed troubadour has revealed that he will no longer be expressing himself on the 140-character platform. Why? Because people are just too mean on Twitter.

"I go on it and there's nothing but people saying mean things," he told The Sun. "Twitter's a platform for that. One comment ruins your day. But that's why I've come off it."

"The head-fuck for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much," he added.

Sheeran continued, insisting that he doesn't need internet friends because at least his parents love him. "I have people like my dad who will have a conversation with me," he said. "I don't have to have someone calling me a whatever."

Sheeran no longer uses the social media platform, but rather than deleting his account entirely, the singer is keeping it alive merely to share automatically generated Instagram posts. Here's hoping no one bullies him off of that social media network too.
