Drayton Michaels

Low Stress in the Deep End

BY Michael EdwardsPublished Jun 1, 2005

Drayton Michaels has been playing music professionally since he was 12 years old in New York City before moving to Seattle where he managed to recruit an impressive list of musicians to help record his debut. Plus his background, which includes formal jazz training, and his wide array of influences should in theory, at least, be well and good. But Low Stress in the Deep End suffers from that far-too-common affliction of being very ordinary. Having taken four years to record his debut, it might have been wise for Michaels to wait just a little bit longer until he had a few more better songs before releasing it because there are far too many weak moments here to recommend this.
