Drake has been hit with a new lawsuit that claims the Toronto rapper coordinated the beating of Detroit hip-hop figure Detail for not becoming his exclusive producer.
TMZ reports that Detail's lawsuit claims he had been asked by Drake to be his exclusive producer in 2014. Detail, having had a hand in several songs from the likes of Lil Wayne and Beyoncé, says he politely declined, according to the suit. Apparently, after some initial awkwardness, Detail had thought things were smoothed over when Drake reportedly invited him over in June 2014 to his home in Calabasas, CA.
While Detail thought he had been invited over to discuss the possibility of working together, he says that when he arrived at the estate at 2 a.m., Drake's bodyguard Chubbs punched him in the face. The blow reportedly left him with a broken jaw.
According to the lawsuit, Chubbs told Detail: "I will beat all your asses, including your bitches. I don't give a fuck. I will hit you again. Do you think Drake is soft? You think Drake's a punk?"
Detail believes Drake set him up and is now suing for damages. Drizzy, meanwhile, has not commented on the lawsuit.
Some of the big hits Detail has worked on include Beyoncé's "Drunk in Love" (for which he won a Grammy), Wiz Khalifa's "We Dem Boyz" and Lil Wayne's "How to Love."
