Montreal garage punks Double Date with Death will unleash their debut LP Headspace at the end of the month, but they've prefaced it with a clip for "Creature" — and Exclaim! has the exclusive premiere.
Clocking in at just a minute and a half, the clip accompanies an equally fast and fun tune that packs in plenty of lo-fi guitars, fuzzed-out vocals and bashing drums despite the short runtime.
"We wanted something close to our sound — fast, aggressive and fun," the band tells Exclaim! "Our idea was to honour the movie The Creature from the Black Lagoon and hockey, [while] Yann Tivrier, the director, wanted to create chaos with all the shots he had."
Black-and-white performance footage, street shots and suspenseful scenes featuring the titular monster blend together rapidly to achieve those goals — with a healthy dose of hockey clips sprinkled in for good measure — making for a visual experience that's as gripping and anxiety-inducing as the song itself.
Headspace is officially out on September 30 through REC Records. For now, watch the video of "Creature" in the player below.
