Back in April, DIIV announced that their sophomore album would be curiously titled Is the Is Are. While we wait for the details surrounding its upcoming fall release on Captured Tracks, the jangly New York indie pop band are tiding fans over with a vinyl reissue of their 2012 debut, Oshin.
This is welcome news for followers of the group, since Oshin has been out of print for some time. There hasn't been a pressing since the original 2012 edition, and records frequently sell for triple-digit figures (or close to it) on online marketplaces.
In a post on Tumblr, the band explained that legal issues surrounding the original album cover have prevented them from repressing it. That's why this latest pressing has a new album cover, which can be seen above. (The group wisely suggested, "If you have the original Oshin LP, keep it pristine!") Beyond that, the LP is unaltered, with the original 13-song tracklist preserved.
It's available now and can be purchased here
Back in 2012, we interviewed DIIV frontman Zachary Cole Smith about Oshin. Revisit that conversation here, and be sure to stay tuned for more about Is the Is Are.
