The debut posse disc from this bruising lyrical crew, consisting of Apathy, Celph Titled, Ryu, Esoteric, Blacastan and Motive, has been over a decade in the making. And it doesn't disappoint. Since their first EP, 2002's Godz Must Be Crazy, the members of this collective have worked on various solo and collaborative projects, to varying degrees of critical and commercial success. However, on KILLmatic, they come together like Voltron to spit, smash and leave your ears bleeding. With guest spots and production from DJ Premier (this dude's everywhere these days!), Scoop Deville, Termanalogy, R.A. the Rugged Man, Marco Polo and the Snowgoons, Demigodz pull out all the stops, making a statement with this record. From the pulse-pumping, Rocky theme-sampling lead single, "Demigodz is Back," which Apathy both mans the boards and rocks the mic on, to KILLmatic's standout track, the Preemo-produced "Worst Nightmare," which the gang of MCs lay waste to, this record is legit — period.
