Daft Punk Become Playable DJ Hero Characters, Serve Up Game-Exclusive Tracks

Good thing the members of Daft Punk don't have any angry wives to get them into lawsuits, because the band have officially signed up for a major role in Activision's upcoming DJ Hero videogame.

According to a report from Rolling Stone, the French-touch legends have contributed set designs, avatars and 11 tracks to the upcoming game. Complete with robot disguises, the pair will also be playable characters in the game.

The music they've contributed is a series of mash-ups, where Daft Punk classics do battle with songs from Queen, Gary Numan, No Doubt and Young MC. These tracks join contributions from DJ Shadow, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the late DJ AM for what looks like a pretty epic soundtrack.

Between DJ Hero and their recent work on the Tron soundtrack, it's starting to look as if it will be a while before we get a proper new album from Daft Punk. Either way, though, DJ Hero hits stores on October 27.

Here are the tracks Daft Punk have contributed to DJ Hero:

Daft Punk "Around the World" vs. Young MC "Bust A Move"

Daft Punk "Da Funk" vs. NASA "Strange Enough ft. Karen O, ODB and Fatlip"

Daft Punk "Da Funk" vs. Queen "Another One Bites the Dust"

Daft Punk "Robot Rock" vs. Hashim "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)"

Daft Punk "Robot Rock" vs. Queen "We Will Rock You"

Daft Punk "Short Circuit" vs. Boogie Down Productions "Jack Of Spades"

Daft Punk "Technologic" vs. Gary Numan "Cars"

Daft Punk "Television Rules The Nation" vs. No Doubt "Hella Good"
