Counterparts have detailed their seventh studio LP. The Ontario hardcore mainstays will deliver A Eulogy for Those Still Here on October 7 via New Damage Records/Pure Noise Records.

Following 2019's Nothing Left to Love, the 11-track A Eulogy for Those Still Here was engineered and produced by Will Putney, and is said to be a mix of heaviness and "stark atmospherics" soundtracking lyrics concerning the idea of preemptive goodbyes.

As vocalist-songwriter Brendan Murphy explains, "I think I deal with things by preparing myself for the end. With so much of this record I'm mourning the loss of someone that's still alive or saying goodbye to something that hasn't left yet."

He continues: "All of these things I have are still a big part of my life but one day they won't be, and I don't want to be focusing on that instead of enjoying the time I have with them. Maybe I'm saying goodbye preemptively but I think it's important to say goodbye while you can."

New song "Unwavering Vow" arrives alongside today's album news, offering an excellent look at the band's balance of atmosphere and aggression. You can hear it below alongside an accompanying video directed by Matt Wade and Ben Ward.

Last year, Counterparts parted ways with guitarist Blake Hardman, leading to the return of Jesse Doreen, who had previously played guitar in the band from 2007 to 2016.

In 2020, guitarist-vocalist Alex Re and ex-bassist Eric Bazinet formed emo outfit You Will Always.

A Eulogy for Those Still Here is now available for pre-order.
