If youre looking for a sound experience bigger than the one you're getting on those stock iPod 'phones, Cineplex Entertainment is launching its Fall Concert Series, a big-screen event that will bring the rock in high def digital surround sound at theatres around the country, and with visuals. Beginning October 1 through November 19, participating Canadian theatres will be projecting five exclusive gigs, including ones by Radiohead, Beck and the White Stripes.
The concert series is divided into two parts. The first is being dubbed "From the Basement and features 17 different bands shot minus an audience in a private space "to capture them at their most relaxed. Here is where Radiohead, Beck and the White Stripes come in, as well as artists like Sonic Youth, Jarvis Cocker, PJ Harvey, the Shins and Super Furry Animals.
The second part of the series is the "inDef Sessions, which shines the light on independent Canadian artists such as Joel Plaskett, Great Lake Swimmers Alex Cuba and Royal Wood, with each date coming with two one-hour concerts.
Starting Friday (September 19), individual tickets are going up for sale at Cineplexs website (to find them just type "concert series in the search bar), as well as participating box offices around the country. General admission will set you back $10.95, $24.95 for three nights of the concert series or $39.95 for all of them. All prices come plus tax (obviously) and the package deal can only be bought in person at the box office.
