"We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour"

Glasgow indie-pop trio Chvrches have flirted with EDM for a while and had a great deal of success by collaborating with Marshmello on "Here with Me." Now, however, their opinion of Marshmello has melted after the producer worked with some controversial figures.

Marshmello recently teamed up with Tyga and Chris Brown on a new track called "Light It Up," and both performers' controversial pasts have not sat well with the members of Chvrches.

In a Twitter post, they wrote, "We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello's choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown. We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind."

Chris Brown's long list of controversies include the felony assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, as well as a number of weapons charges and allegations of sexual assault. Earlier this year, he was arrested in Paris for an alleged rape.

Tyga was criticized for alluding to having sex with Kylie Jenner in a song when she was still only 17. In 2016, a 14-year-old told People that she had "uncomfortable" communication with Tyga over Instagram. His manager said Tyga had been misinformed that she was 17 and had contacted her about music.
