Chromatics

"Shadow"

Though they keep pushing their Dear Tommy back, Chromatics continue to treat fans to the occasional leak. After a recent Cyndi Lauper cover, the band have shared a final version of their "Shadow" single via Adult Swim.

The song initially surfaced as an 8-track demo last year, and while it was impressive then this new version ramps up the production sheen, resulting in an extra dreamy, melancholic ballad that owes a lot to Julee Cruise.

Johnny Jewel shared the following statement about the song:

Everyone has a shadow. There is no real difference between ten years ago and ten seconds ago. Your future determines your past. The flame of nostalgia is a tempting black hole to jump into, but I recognize it as a fantasy.

Romance is brave. So is simplicity. Love is a call to war. Why wouldn't you want to respect music? Dear Tommy is the most rebellious record I've made.

Listen to "Shadow" below. Hopefully Dear Tommy will still arrive at some point in 2015.
