Detroit art metal ensemble Child Bite are tapping into the darkness of the human spirit in a new, grindhouse-styled video for their song "Mongoloid Obsession."
The jarring, herky-jerk noise of the song, found on their recent Strange Waste, conjures an uncomfortable blend of Daughters, the Jesus Lizard and NoMeansNo, as fronted by the hellspawn of Jello Biafra. The distaste of the song title is explored further with carnival barker yowls hinting at putting "the most disgusting examples of the human race" on display.
As such, the visuals find a group of unfortunate figures humiliated and abused by a captor. A guy forced to wear a chimp mask is caged, while a makeshift merman is sent to the bottom of a pool beyond his control. This is all capped with a very much degrading on-leash walk through a field.
It's a little unsettling, with the old school horror film approach keeping the moral ground murky. You can catch the clip, which includes a cameo from Phil Anselmo, down below.
